Mr. Jones, a long standing customer, came in one day and asked me to make him an engagement ring with a round diamond center in the 2 carat range and set it in a halo setting in14KT white gold. We chose a center diamond, picked out a gorgeous Halo setting and put the ring together. He paid me in full, but asked me to hold the ring. His plan was to bring her into the store and have her pick the ring right out our showcase. On the given day, I put his ring in our engagement ring showcase and Mr. Jones and his intended walked in. He asked me to see my inventory of engagement rings, and together they sat while she tried on multiple rings. She narrowed it down to 3, but was not leaning towards the one he had made. She actually was in love with a cushion cut. Mr. Jones was sweating, all his hard work and and the big surprise were evaporating before his eyes.
She then elimanted a different round diamond that had side baguettes. We were down to 2 including his. Frankly, I was positive she was going to choose the cushion cut, she couldn't seem to take her eyes off of it. Mr. Jones said...."so, what do you think?" She gave them a last try and said "I love this cushion cut, I think it's unbelievable. But something about this round one keeps calling to me...like it was made just for me. I can't shake that feeling. I want the round!!!"
TheJoneses are now happily married. Shepicked the wedding bands by herself. Every time she walks in she still tells me how her ring just called her name!
This is what I call a very happy ending!
